Can you believe it's been a whole year since I took the leap and joined the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat | Secrétariat du Conseil du Trésor du Canada 🇨🇦 Leaving the Canada Revenue Agency - Agence du revenu du Canada felt like a huge gamble as I had already built myself a clear career path there, but the chance to work on game-changing IT projects right at the heart of government was too good to pass up. So I jumped at the opportunity with closed eyes. The past year has been a whirlwind. Ten projects, each with its own unique challenges and rewards, have kept me on my toes. From streamlining internal processes to developing innovative digital solutions, surrounded by folks who are 10x smarter than I am — the work has been incredibly diverse and stimulating & I truly love the challenge. Moreover, I'm so lucky to have supportive colleagues and leaders who not only put up with my "out there" ideas, but actually encourage them! Navigating the ins and outs of government can be tricky, but they've always had my back. It's not all sunshine and rainbows, of course. There are days when the frustration & self-doubt gets too real, and I wonder if I've made the right choice. But then I remember why I'm here: to make a difference, even if it's just a small one. Seven years into my public service career, and that drive is still there. I'm so grateful for the opportunities I've had, and I'm more determined than ever to keep learning and growing as a leader. So, here's to the future! Recent CBC video discusses the real likelihood of the CDN falling to the USD. I have been saying this for a while now. While the reporter Andrew Chang does a good job saying how a lower CDN will hurt most Canadians, he does completely miss as the the why this is happening. https://lnkd.in/g_xBZZXP Look no further than the failed policies of the Liberal Party of Canada • Parti Libéral du Canada, specifically our PM, Justin Trudeau who has said that he does not worry about the economy. A finance minister Chrystia Freeland who is clearly not well versed in basic economics and the environment minister Steven Guilbeault who seems to have his own religious mission to save the world at the expense of Canadians. Canada should have a strong dollar and be running surpluses. We are one of the richest nations in the world in terms of commodities. It is being run by either incompetent or corrupt fools. And Canadians suffer. The US is about to enter into a golden age, and Canadians will be left peering in wondering what happened to the Canadian dream. Now is the time to demand answers, raise your voice and support those that stand up to this failed govt. Danielle Smith, Scott Moe are two that come to mind. Pierre Poilievre says he will bring the change we need. The statistics show that Canada is on a bad road and this Liberal / NDP coalition is doing nothing but making it worse.

Ben Affleck: AI futurist. The Affleck clip circulating reminds me of the Trudeau clip from a few years back talking about quantum mathematics. Love to see when public figures DO have a grasp on the intricacies of technology. If you haven't watched it, spend 3 minutes of your day today doing so (see comments.) I found myself nodding vigorously on three things: 📼 AI can help you with your club remixes. Just like his idea for a different Succession ending, AI works really well at remixing content. Turn a text article into video. Take long-form narrative and turn it into a two-sided podcast. Convert a traditional article into a bullet point script for podcasters to use. Our partners at Nota do a fantastic job at this. 💸 Lower costs. Ben had a great caveat here. Everyone is looking to lower production costs....but it's important you don't also lower the output. Maybe you need fewer video producers at some point. But if you scale the output, you can find a new audience to serve and then hire Audience team members to help engage that new audience. Let's not make this a race to the bottom for the cheapest output just to boost profits. Reinvest. 💡 Don't rely on AI for Creativity. "AI can write you excellent imitative verse that sounds Elizabethan. It cannot write you Shakespeare." I rarely use AI for the first pass at my writing. But I often ask its help in identifying gaps or punching up the lede (which I'm pretty bad at.) And I once even said "make this more consultant-y" when I had to deliver something to Tommy Gamba 😉
